Join Our Board

We are entering our 15th year running transformative, heartfelt programs that foster deep connection to wildness. We’ve transformed from a small group of six kiddos and one staff using a ragged tarp into a thriving educational lab experimenting with various ways of creating engaging, vibrant experiences for people of all ages to learn about the more than human world through natural history, earth skills, and community building.

As we enter the next phase of our organization’s journey (one of ambitious growth), we are looking to bring on 6 new board members, including someone to serve as our new board chair. Board members must be:

• Deeply passionate about our mission of Crow’s Path and invested in our long-term vision 
• Willing to put in time and energy to get to know our organization and familiarize themselves with the roles and responsibilities of boards both generally and specifically within Crow’s Path
• Committed to fundraising for the organization and for specific projects

This is a transitional period for our board, which has largely served in an ad hoc pedagogical advisory role. The primary objective over the next year is to establish a board culture that focuses on governing Crow’s Path and holding the organization accountable to its mission and long-term vision. Beyond this, we have exciting plans mapped out for the next 5 years as well as short-term goals to bring our budget into closer alignment with our values, particularly around staff compensation. Key initiatives the board will play a role in include:

• Expanding our financial aid fund to make programs more accessible
• Improve staff compensation
• Provide guidance, support, and oversight to the Executive Director in realizing our long-term vision

Board members serve two year terms with no term limit. The time commitment is roughly 30-40 hours per year (about 3-4 hours each), with bimonthly meetings hosted in person or on Zoom, with one longer meeting at the end of our fiscal year (mid-August). Board members are encouraged to attend public Crow’s Path events and of season staff potlucks.
