Our former intern extraordinaire, Brooke Shaffer, recently started a new job in her home state of New Jersey. Here’s an update from her:
To my Crows Path family,
My name is Brooke and I interned for Crows Path last spring. I left the wonderful little city of Burlington to explore our big and beautiful country by bike and train. I somehow ended up in Oregon for a little while working on a goat farm and eating massive amounts of cheese every day. I went home for the holidays and and ended up taking a job in Carmel New York.
I work for an outdoor education center that focuses on connecting people of all ages with the natural world around. Inner city children, local school groups, colleges, and community groups visit our education center for day or overnight trips. I teach various environmental science classes, high ropes and low ropes courses, team building, and environmental stewardship.
After, I intend to go to New Mexico and lead young girls on hiking expeditions during the summer; however, I know I’ll be back to the good ole’ days of Burlington living because of the the naturalist program at UVM. Crows Path was where I first discovered my interest in becoming a naturalist and has allowed me to follow my true passions of life. Please indulge in the muddy trails, the sweet sap of the maple trees, and the breathtaking flowers that the spring brings at rock point.
