Jeff first discovered the joy of teaching as a camp counselor, where he saw how curiosity, play, and meaningful relationships help children grow in confidence and connection. That experience inspired him to pursue a master’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a career devoted to creating learning communities where children and families can thrive. During graduate school, Jeff was deeply influenced by Dr. Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences and the idea that every person learns differently. It shaped his approach to teaching, encouraging him to ask questions, observe carefully, and adapt his methods to honor each learner’s unique strengths and ways of understanding the world. His graduate thesis focused on developing an intergenerational learning and care center grounded in the belief that people of all ages flourish when they learn alongside one another, exchanging wisdom, stories, and experiences across generations.
Looking back, he sees how these ideas naturally align with Crow’s Path’s belief that learning happens through relationship, mentorship, and meaningful experiences in the living world. Over the past thirty years, Jeff has led early education, youth development, and community-based programs, helping mission-driven organizations grow while remaining centered on the needs of children and families. His love for nature also led him to spend fifteen years living aboard his boat in Boston Harbor, where life was guided by the rhythms of the tides, weather, and wildlife. When he’s not working, you can often find him hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, or seeking out new outdoor adventures throughout Vermont. Joining Crow’s Path feels like a full-circle moment—an opportunity to bring together his passion for developing pathways for educators, strengthening communities across generations, and deepening people’s connection to the natural world.
