Geology Maps of Vermont
Links below are to both interactive and static maps of Vermont’s geologic features. Below that you’ll find a couple of how to videos on Web Soil Survey and Google Earth
- VCGI’s map with various layers on geology and natural resources (e.g. surface geology, mineral resources, historic mines, soils, land cover/use, water quality, etc.)
- Surficial geology map: Broad overview of soil types (also available as digital file that can be opened in Google Earth)
- Web Soil Survey: For fine grain detail on soils (check out the how to video below)
- Thanks to the good folks at UCDavis, the data from USGS can be opened in Google Earth: link
- Bedrock geology map (2011)
- Google Earth (the web version can’t handle the bedrock map, but the desktop version, which is free, works great for this)
