BA Geology (Colorado College '20), Master Certified Environmental Educator (Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education)
Wilderness First Responder
Hannah grew up in the Adirondack Mountains and attended non-traditional schools as a child. She graduated from Colorado College with a degree in Geology and Environmental Issues and is passionate about inspiring curiosity and critical thinking in connection with the natural world. Hannah has worked with learners of all ages as an environmental educator, mentor, camp counselor, nanny, wilderness trip leader, pottery teacher, and most recently, the lead teacher in a mixed-age elementary classroom in Washington, DC. As an educator, Hannah is dedicated to honoring each of her students’ unique paths of learning, asking them questions, rather than giving them answers, and guiding them to ask and explore challenging questions about the world around them. She believes it is her job to encourage learners to take risks and ask challenging questions, so that they are empowered to become architects of their own learning rather than passive consumers of knowledge. Hannah takes pride in being a lifelong learner and in her free time likes to run, make clothing on her sewing machine, find cold bodies of water to jump in, and make pottery.
